In the process of planning to scan hundreds of old slides and debating what product to buy I'm convinced that the Epson V500 has turned out to be the right choice. It has proven very simple to use and I have had excellent results by scanning slides @ 1200 DPI in Professional Mode. At this setting it only takes a few minutes to complete the scan. My slides had been stored for years in dust proof boxes and consequently I didn't really require the Digital Ice, however I did experiment with various settings.
